    THE NOMINEES 2018:
    • Alfa Romeo Stelvio
    • Audi A8
    • BMW 5er Series
    • Citroën C3 Aircross
    • Kia Stinger
    • Seat Ibiza
    • Volvo XC40

The jury, that consists 60 members, representing 23 European countries, has voted and the winner is…

Car of the year 2018 – Volvo XC40

Congratulations to the team! This Volvo is the first ever compact SUV and looks really impressive. It is smaller than other cars in the same series, powerful, sharp and modern. This elegant car with a great performance and highest safety standards will defiantly attract young people.

Geneva Motor Show sets the TRENDS and demonstrates latest innovations  in the automobile industry.

One of the most noticeable trends is growing amount of energy-efficient cars, that can now be found at almost all brands at the Motor Show. Personally, I’m very happy about it. I have had a chance to see this essential trend expanding during my visits to the fair for the last three years. Once a dream, now a reality! :)

    futuristic Self-driving cars

This is another booming trend. I have never seen so many concept cars. This thrilling evolution of the driving culture is going to be a game changer. For instance, Volkswagen plans to release first self-driving cars by 2020, with further pushing the boundaries by using VR oculars instead of steering wheel for controlling the car. I was very excited to discover these new prospects and looking forward to trying them out.

    The World’s First Flying Car

In the near future, we can car-fly non-stop from Amsterdam to Paris. The PAL-V Liberty can fly with the speed from 50 km/h to 180 km/h, at the hight up to 2000 m and requires only 90m – 200 m space for landing or taking off. The concept of gyroplane has been chosen for building the car for the safety reasons, as gyroplane is a stable mechanical system. However, you should consider that for operating this incredible vehicle, you will need a flying license. This can be obtained through one of the many flight schools around the world. It takes around 30 – 40 hours of training to get the license. So maybe one day we will see a lot of cars not only around but also above us.

    1000 MIGLIA & chopard

The 1000 Miglia 2018 is the thirty-sixth recreation of the speed race, held on between 1927 and 1957.
Within  the Geneva Motor Show, one of the world’s most beautiful car races and its partners presented the program for the upcoming drive as well as a new limited edition of the Chopard watches.

From May 16th to May 19th, 2018, 450 vintage cars from 72 different car companies will cross 7 beautiful regions in Italy (from Brescia to Rome and return).

The most represented car company is Alfa Romeo with 47 cars, followed by Fiat with 42, Jaguar with 34 and Mercedes-Benz with 33.

You may find more details about the race on the 1000 Miglia official website.

    Tag Heuer special exhibition

The Swiss Watchmaker takes the opportunity to announce new collaborations and demonstrate legendary cars at the special stand.

Throughout the show, the stand is featuring racing simulators, a bar open to the public, two VIP lounges and a box with the new “Samsung Gear VR”. There is also a pop-up store where you can enjoy the TAG Heuer boutique experience. You may find the new TAG Heuer watch collection available for purchase, including the TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45 and the brand new 41, as well as the recent re-issue of the legendary Monaco with its famous square blue dial featuring a left-hand crown. The original was worn by Steve McQueen during the filming of Le Mans in 1971.

    Renault automobile history

One more entertaining experience is waiting for you at the Renault historical ride, through 120 years of brand’s heritage. Moreover, with a special simulator, the brand invites all the guests to check how the racing atmosphere feels like.

This year, Geneva Motor Show demonstrates some outstanding developments, state-of-the-art technologies and opens the door to the provocative, yet intriguing future of the automobile industry.

You are welcome to share in the comments below your favourite car models and novelties.
